Japanese Singer-Songwriter Saito Kazuyoshi Returns with New Album 'Nichijou Days'
After a 3.5-year hiatus, veteran Japanese artist Saito Kazuyoshi is releasing his 23rd studio album 'Nichijou Days' on September 9, 2026. The release marks the start of a nationwide tour featuring a string quartet arrangement—a first for the artist.

Saito Kazuyoshi is back with new music. The Japanese singer-songwriter's upcoming album Nichijou Days arrives September 9, marking his first full-length release since Pineapple in April 2023.
The 11-track album pulls together recent singles like "Kagami yo Kagami" and "Crying Glory Moon," plus a new orchestral version of "Transparent Map" and "Wazura," the theme song for a Bridgestone tire commercial. Rounding out the tracklist are deeper cuts including "Black Cat's Tambourine" and "Sweet Little Sixty."
Multiple editions cater to different fans. Standard and limited CD versions are available through normal retailers, while Victor Online Store offers exclusive cassette tape, vinyl, and deluxe bundles. The limited edition CD includes acoustic renditions of three tracks, plus a new version of a 2010 photo book collaboration with director Yabanai Michihiko and a chord sheet for fingerstyle versions. The cassette version adds instrumental bonus tracks, and the deluxe bundle includes a collaboration t-shirt from Saito's fashion brand Rock'n Roll Can Never Die paired with a "Relive Shirt." Vinyl ships separately on September 30, alongside a limited-run portable cassette player.
The accompanying tour kicks off September 18 and runs through December, visiting 32 venues across Japan. What makes this tour special: Saito will perform with a string quartet for the first time, led by violinist Biao. The full band includes guitarist Shimakabe Yohei, bassist Sumikura Hiroshi (of Hatsukoi no Arashi), and drummer Tamada Toyoyume.
Ticket presales begin through major ticket vendors for shows starting September 18 in Ichikawa, Chiba through November 15 in Omiya, Saitama.
Saito, who debuted in 1993, has spent three decades building a catalog of beloved songs used in film and television. His 2011 hit "I Want to Be Kind," written for the drama Housekeeper Mita, introduced him to mainstream audiences beyond longtime fans. Nichijou Days represents his continued evolution as a musician willing to experiment with new arrangements.
