Kana Nishino is making her return to music with a new single. Her latest track, "Power of Love," has been selected as the opening theme for the second cour of the anime "Ascendance of a Bookworm: Part 3" (本好きの下剋上 領主の養女), premiering July 11 on Yomiuri Television and Nippon Television.

Nishino described the song as capturing "the moment when thoughts of cherished people transform into strength." In a statement, she reflected on connecting with the anime's world and characters, saying she put her heart into the recording to match the story's emotional depth.

The 37-year-old singer has been selective with her public appearances since taking a hiatus in early 2019, shortly before announcing her marriage to a non-celebrity. Her involvement with this anime project marks a continued selective return to creative work.

"Ascendance of a Bookworm" follows Myne, who reincarnates in a world where books are scarce luxuries controlled by nobility. In this third arc, Myne—now living as Rozemyne, a noble's adopted daughter—navigates a society where common sense doesn't apply, all while protecting her family and friends from those who covet her magical abilities.

A special fantasy-themed preview featuring snippets of "Power of Love" is now available on YouTube. The anime's ending theme for this cour will be handled by adieu (featuring voice actress Moka Kamishiraishi), with composer Satoko Shibata handling both writing and composition duties on the track "Wanna me."

Nishino's selection for this role comes naturally given her reputation for emotionally resonant ballads that emphasize human connection—a hallmark of her career since her 2008 debut. Her 2010 breakout hit "I Wanna Meet You" spawned her platinum-selling debut album, and her ability to capture relatable feelings has made her a fixture in the anime soundtrack world.
