Kariyushi 58 is back on THE FIRST TAKE. The Okinawan rock band will premiere their latest one-take performance on the YouTube series today (May 20) at 10 PM JST, marking their return after their debut appearance on the show earlier this month.

This time around, the four-piece band—featuring vocalist and bassist Maekawa Shingo, guitarists Arakiya Yukihiro and Miyahira Naoki, and drummer Nakamura Hiroki—will perform "Owari Hajimari" (Beginning of the End), a contemplative track that opens with the question: "As the day winds down, have you left anything undone?"

Maekawa described the songwriting process as uniquely effortless. "It felt more like the song was born rather than created," he explained. "The melody and lyrics just came naturally—so naturally that I barely remember any struggle in making it." Interestingly, the song has existed for about two decades, with the chorus melody and lyrical hook remaining unchanged since its inception.

Kariyushi 58 originally formed in Okinawa in 2005, blending traditional Okinawan scales with rock and reggae influences—a fusion they call their signature sound. They gained widespread recognition with their 2006 debut single "Anma" (Mother), a straightforward tribute to maternal love that earned them the Japan Cable Awards Newcomer Prize. The band has maintained their connection to their island roots while expanding their reach across Japan.

Their initial THE FIRST TAKE appearance in early May featured "Anma," showcasing the emotional directness that defines their music. With "Owari Hajimari," they're offering fans another glimpse into their introspective songwriting—one that resonates with universal questions about time, purpose, and daily reflection.
