Kazuya Kameshiro is gearing up for a major milestone, making a special TV appearance just days before his first solo album drops.

On July 5, the artist will perform on NHK BS's "The Covers," a program dedicated to classic song interpretations. This marks his return to the show after roughly three years, and his first appearance since launching as a solo artist.

For the episode's "First Album Special," Kameshiro will cover two beloved tracks: My Little Lover's "Hello, Again ~Mukashi Kara Aru Basho~" from their 1995 album "Evergreen," and UA's "Jounetsu" from her 1996 release "11."

In discussing his approach to "Hello, Again," Kameshiro revealed that he connected the song's lyrics to his current life chapter, delivering the performance with both conversational moments and raw emotion. For "Jounetsu," he prioritized groove and feeling, describing it as a "one-take live" performance that lets his body ride the rhythm.

Hosts Rirī Furanki and Moeka Kamiwhiteishi will join Kameshiro for in-studio conversation, with Furanki—someone close to the artist—discussing his decision to release a debut album at age 40 and what lies ahead. Moeka notably observed that his "primal side" emerged during his performances.

The episode will also feature the TV premiere of "WAVE," the lead track from his new album, performed in full.

"The Covers: Kazuya Kameshiro Night! ~First Album Special~" airs July 5 on NHK BS at 10:50 PM JST, with a 4K repeat broadcast on BSPremium on July 14. Narrator Kōichi Dōmoto rounds out the lineup.

Kameshiro's debut solo album "WAVE" releases July 8, marking a significant solo chapter for the artist.
