LEX and LANA Star in NHK Special About Youth and Belonging
Sibling artists LEX and LANA will appear in an NHK Eテレ special program this August exploring adolescent struggles and the search for belonging, featuring conversations with teens about navigating modern life.

Hip-hop siblings LEX and LANA are taking their music and influence to Japanese public television. The pair will headline an NHK Eテレ special program (title: "居場所を探す君へ ~LEX LANA 10代の魂と響きあう歌~") set to air in late August that brings together young people and the artists to discuss life's toughest questions.
The program targets a critical moment—right before the new school year when isolation and anxiety among teenagers tend to spike. Rather than preaching solutions, the special focuses on listening. LEX and LANA will hear directly from teens about their worries and uncertainties, exploring what "belonging" really means and how to cope with feeling out of place in today's world.
This choice of hosts makes sense. Both artists have built devoted followings among young listeners precisely because their music speaks to real struggles. LEX, a 24-year-old from Kanagawa's Shonan area, started uploading tracks to SoundCloud at 14 and released his debut album at 16. His signature combination of melodic, introspective vocals paired with hard-hitting production has resonated deeply with Gen Z. LANA, his 22-year-old sister, brings powerful vocals and genre-blending sound—mixing hip-hop and R&B while refusing to stay boxed in stylistically. She held her first Budokan concert this past April, a major milestone for someone her age.
Beyond their musical success, both have publicly discussed personal hardship—family struggles, loneliness, and feeling adrift—which gives them credibility when engaging with vulnerable audiences. Rather than positioning themselves as mentors with all the answers, they're positioned as guides who've walked similar paths.
NHK is actively seeking submissions from Japanese teens ages 10-19 who want to share their current worries and thoughts for potential inclusion in the broadcast. The program represents a broader cultural moment where music and mental health are intersecting more openly in mainstream media, and where artists like LEX and LANA are trusted voices in that conversation.
The special airs late August on NHK Eテレ.
