LUNA SEA opened their "UNENDING JOURNEY -FOREVER-" tour on May 29 in Hadano, their emotional first performance in the band's home prefecture since drummer Shinya's death in February.

The choice of venue held special meaning—May 29 marks the day the band played their first-ever show in 1989. While LUNA SEA has performed at major venues like the Budokan, this marked the first time their hometown was selected to launch a full national tour. The band, comprised of Ryuichi (vocals), Sugizo (guitar, violin), Inoran (guitar), J (bass), and now supported by Junji (SIAM SHADE) on drums, received a hero's welcome. Hadano Station displayed "Welcome home, LUNA SEA!!" on electronic displays, and a memorial photo booth honored Shinya, where fans left flowers and messages.

Ryuichi acknowledged the significance during the performance, telling the crowd they were carrying Shinya's spirit and intention into the show. "We're bringing Shinya's feelings here with us, so let's all get fired up! Hadano, let's go!" The setlist opened aggressively with "SLAVE"—named after the band's dedicated fanbase—followed by crowd favorite "Déjàvu."

The stage setup reflected the band's approach to moving forward. Junji's drum kit sat stage right while Shinya's latest YAMAHA drumset was positioned stage left—used during rehearsals but not the performance itself. His image appeared on screens throughout, particularly during "MILLENNIUM" and "inside you," a rock tune Shinya originally composed.

The two-part concert format, adopted post-2021 during the pandemic, allowed LUNA SEA to craft contrasting emotional landscapes across the show. Hadano itself has become increasingly central to LUNA SEA's legacy—four of five members call the city home. Last November, two of their signature songs "ROSIER" and "I for You" became the station's official melodies, and in May a handprint monument was unveiled at Mahoroba Bridge.

After enduring Ryuichi's illness and navigating the pandemic, LUNA SEA demonstrated their commitment to honoring both their history and their lost bandmate while moving confidently into this next chapter.
