TSUZUMI, a member of the Japanese girl group ME:I, has landed the lead voice role for the live-action "Moana" film hitting theaters July 31. She'll voice the adventurous protagonist Moana in the Japanese version, bringing the character to life as the film adapts Disney's beloved animated classic into live-action.

Beyond voice acting, TSUZUMI is also performing the Japanese rendition of "How Far I'll Go," the film's signature song. The track is already available in the official Japanese trailer released on YouTube, giving fans a preview of her vocal contribution to the project.

This marks TSUZUMI's return to high-profile work following a temporary hiatus. She had stepped back from activities during late 2024 when ME:I served as the Japanese end-credits artist for "Moana 2." She officially resumed her activities in August 2025.

ME:I itself emerged from the 2023 survival competition show "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS," the franchise's first girl group iteration. The group debuted in April 2024 with their single "MIRAI," and their name represents "future idols representing a new generation of Japan." The group had previously worked with Disney on the animated "Moana" sequel, making this live-action project a continuation of their growing presence in major entertainment ventures.

With her voice acting debut in a major studio film and a prominent song placement, TSUZUMI's return to the spotlight positions her as a multimedia performer—a direction that reflects the evolving career paths many K-Pop and J-Pop artists are taking.
