Legendary Japanese singer Miyuki Nakajima's NHK special is getting a second life. The network will broadcast the full version of "NHK MUSIC SPECIAL Miyuki Nakajima All Time Request" on June 21 at 1:50 PM, expanding on the original March airing with previously unreleased material.

The March special saw Nakajima take on DJ duties—her first time hosting in 18 years—as she guided viewers through viewer-requested songs and shared personal stories behind tracks like "Time," "Star on the Ground," "Song of Wheat," and "Fight!" Concert footage, music videos, and television performances accompanied her commentary throughout.

Based on strong viewer response, NHK decided to create this extended version. The new cut reincorporates interview segments that didn't make the original broadcast due to time constraints. Nakajima's conversational style and wit are central to the appeal, though she appears only as a voice—no on-camera appearance.

The special comes at an active period for the 50-year touring veteran. Nakajima's concert film "Midnight Theater Vol. 1" will hit Japanese theaters on December 27, documenting her 16-show run across Tokyo and Osaka earlier this year. She's also been making her catalog more accessible, having launched all 94 of her singles on streaming platforms in late 2022.

For those unfamiliar with her reach: Nakajima debuted in 1975 and has claimed number-one singles across five decades—the 1970s through 2000s for her own releases, plus the 2010s through writing for others. She's perhaps best known for her theatrical work, having created and starred in the stage production "Midnight Theater" since 1989, which remains her ongoing creative passion project.

The complete version airs June 21 on NHK General TV, with catch-up streaming available on NHK ONE for those who miss the broadcast.
