MURABANKU。, a five-piece instrumental band, just dropped their debut live album in an unconventional way. "Sucharaka Core [Live Mix].zip" wasn't recorded in a studio—instead, the band reconstructed audio from footage shot on iPhones, VHS tapes, camcorders, and equipment borrowed from event organizers across multiple venues in Tokyo.

The resulting album, released May 20, captures more than just clean performances. The cheering crowds, ambient room noise, and the distinct audio qualities of each recording device—including their compressors and noise characteristics—are all intentionally preserved as part of the finished work. It's a deliberate choice to let the raw, imperfect nature of these various sources become the album's identity.

The eight-track collection spans recordings from early 2024 through April 2026, captured at iconic Tokyo venues like SMiLE in Shibuya, TABASA in Asagaya, and U.F.O.CLUB in Koenji. Track titles include "青梅街道," "シノノメタウン," and "秋刀魚の味"—the latter of which was featured in their recent comeback last fall.

The band is building on this release with a live and DJ event called "Sucharaka_room #1" on June 8 at FORESTLIMIT in Tokyo. The night will feature MURABANKU。 performing live alongside DJs who'll interpret their signature "Sucharaka Core" sound from different angles. Confirmed participants include composer Masaru Yamaguchi (who's worked on anime soundtracks for "Miitsuketa!" and Kyoto Animation projects), rising DJ heykazma, and electronic producer TeaPea☆. MURABANKU。 members will also take DJ duties, including a unit featuring Negishi. More artists are expected to be announced.

This approach—treating archived, low-fidelity recordings as legitimate artistic material rather than polishing them into submission—reflects a growing trend in underground music where imperfection and authenticity hold weight. For MURABANKU。, it's a fitting introduction to their live catalog.
