Japanese rock band SPYAIR is gearing up for summer with a new single landing July 3. "Awake" will serve as the opening theme for the anime "The Exiled Reincarnated Heavy Knight Dominates with Game Knowledge," which premieres July 2 on MBS/TBS and 26 affiliated stations across Japan.

According to the band, "Awake" captures more than just its literal meaning. "We wanted to express the feeling of moving forward even while carrying doubt and pain," SPYAIR explained in a statement. "It's like the moment when emotions that have been still suddenly start moving again, paired with a driving sound."

The single also appears in the anime's second main promotional video, which dropped on YouTube.

SPYAIR has built a solid track record with anime tie-ups over their career. The band most recently scored a major hit with "Orange," which served as the theme song for the "Haikyu!!" movie earlier this year. That track became their first to surpass 100 million streams.

Formed in Aichi Prefecture in 2005, SPYAIR has come a long way since their major debut in 2010. The group underwent significant changes in recent years—original vocalist IKE departed in 2022 due to health issues, and after an audition process, new vocalist YOSUKE joined in April 2023. The refreshed lineup officially kicked into gear during the band's summer festival "JUST LIKE THIS" in August 2023.

Beyond the new single, SPYAIR is keeping busy with their annual outdoor concert series. The band will bring "JUST LIKE THIS 2026" to both South Korea and Japan in September. Korean concert tickets went on sale today (June 16), while Japanese tickets remain available for pre-order on Lawson Ticket until today at 11:59 PM.

With "Awake" ready to reach anime fans and tour dates locked in across two countries, SPYAIR is positioning themselves for a strong summer and fall.
