SWEET STEADY achieved a major milestone by making their debut on THE FIRST TAKE, the popular YouTube channel known for featuring artists performing in a single take within a white studio setting.

The 7-member group, managed under KAWAII LAB.—an idol project by Asobi System—performed their breakout hit "SWEET STEP" during the show's 678th episode, which premiered on June 19 at 10 p.m. JST. The track has become a phenomenon on social media, driven by its catchy melody and hypnotic lyrics that have captivated listeners across platforms.

Since its release four months ago, "SWEET STEP" has surpassed an impressive 500 million views on TikTok alone, making it clear why the group was eager to appear on THE FIRST TAKE. Member Riyo Shiokawa mentioned in her comments that the group had watched fellow KAWAII LAB. artists and CUTIE STREET perform on the channel and made appearing on THE FIRST TAKE one of their goals for the year.

"When we found out we were chosen, I was so happy I cried," Shiokawa said. She also noted that recording together as a full group for THE FIRST TAKE was a first-time experience for the members.

SWEET STEADY debuted in March 2024 under the creative direction of Misa Kimura, the former member of Musubizumu and current overall producer of KAWAII LAB. The group's name reflects their philosophy: the group members are like a bouquet of cute things (SWEET) who grow steadily (STEADY) through various experiences.

Member Mayumi Shiraishi encouraged viewers to engage with the song, noting its distinctive qualities.
