TaiTan and Tamaki Shukei Launch Unique Silent Shopping Experience
TaiTan from Dos Monos and Tamaki Shukei from MONO NO AWARE and MIZ are taking their radio show concept to the next level with an interactive installation that puts a twist on everyday shopping.
The third edition of "Tō-TOH-" (盗), an experiential event born from their radio program "Nōtō" (脳盗), will run March 14-15 at TBS Akasaka BLITZ Studio in Tokyo. The concept sounds almost like a game show: participants can take any item from a mock convenience store setup, but there's one crucial rule - they must remain completely silent.
The Artists Behind the Event
TaiTan is known as a member of the experimental hip-hop trio Dos Monos, while Tamaki Shukei performs with both the indie band MONO NO AWARE and the duo MIZ. Together, they host "Nōtō," a radio show that clearly shares the same experimental spirit as this unusual retail experience.
The "Tō" series has become a recurring platform for the pair to explore interactive concepts that blend performance art with everyday activities. This latest iteration promises to test participants' self-control and silence in an environment where the temptation is literally all around them.
For those curious about Japan's more experimental music scene, this event represents the kind of boundary-pushing creativity that artists like TaiTan and Tamaki bring to their work - taking concepts from their audio projects and translating them into physical, participatory experiences.
