THE ALFEE, the legendary Japanese rock trio, is getting the retrospective treatment with a five-month special broadcast series kicking off this July on BS10 Premium.

The monthly programming runs from July through November 2026, highlighting some of the band's most significant performances across their five-decade career. Leading off in July is their groundbreaking 1983 Tokyo Budokan debut—"OVER DRIVE 1983 ALFEE 8-24 BUDOKAN"—which marked the beginning of a remarkable streak: 35 consecutive years of Budokan performances. That show will air free-to-air on July 25.

August brings two productions. First up is the iconic 1984 Yokohama Stadium performance, memorable for an incident where vocalist and guitarist Takatsugi Shunhiko suffered broken ribs after falling during the show but continued performing anyway. That same month will also feature their December 2022 Budokan concert, their 99th performance at the venue, making it a television premiere after remaining unreleased on home video until now.

The series continues into autumn with their December 2023 Budokan show, another previously unreleased performance getting its first TV broadcast. Additional programming details are expected to be announced.

THE ALFEE—made up of Takatsugi Shunhiko (vocals, guitar), Sakazaki Konosuke (vocals, acoustic guitar), and Sakurai Masaru (vocals, bass)—debuted in 1974 under the name ALFIE. The trio is known for intricate vocal harmonies and melodic songwriting that blends folk, progressive rock, and pop influences. Hit songs like "Merry Ann" and "Promised Love" have made them fixtures in Japanese music.

The band continues to perform regularly, having recently achieved 3,000 career concert performances—a historic milestone for a domestic band. Now in their 70s, THE ALFEE remain active and continue creating new material, including writing theme songs for contemporary films.
