THE RAMPAGE's Shogo Iwatani Announces Second Novel Release
THE RAMPAGE member Shogo Iwatani will release his second novel, "一人分の夜を生き直す" (Reliving One Person's Night), on November 5, 2026. The story explores dance and youth through two boys navigating the complexities of growing up.

Shogo Iwatani of THE RAMPAGE has set a November 5 release date for his second novel, "一人分の夜を生き直す" (Reliving One Person's Night), published by Gentosha.
Iwatani, who made his literary debut in 2024 with "選択" (Choice), drew inspiration for this new work from a performance at Tokyo Dome. The novel follows two boys—Ren and Yamato—whose lives intersect through dance as they navigate the emotional turbulence of adolescence.
In a statement about the book, Iwatani reflected on its themes: "As we grow older, we become freer yet more lost. Work, romance, the future—our options multiply, but so do our doubts. I wanted to capture how the protagonist grows through dance as a form of expression, while grappling with the confusion and loneliness we all face."
The story examines how dance serves as a bridge between the characters, exploring universal struggles around identity and direction that resonate beyond youth. Iwatani's background as a performer in THE RAMPAGE clearly informs his portrayal of movement and artistic expression.
Beyond his writing, Iwatani continues to balance multiple creative pursuits as a member of the 16-member dance and vocal unit. THE RAMPAGE, formed through three LDH auditions and debuted in 2017, recently released "Endless Happy-Ending," which serves as the opening theme for the anime "FAIRY TAIL 100-Year Quest." The group held their second Tokyo Dome solo concert in September 2024.
Publisher Gentosha is planning in-store events to commemorate the release, with details to be announced later. Iwatani joins other THE RAMPAGE members who have pursued diverse careers outside music, including acting, modeling, and other ventures—a testament to the group's commitment to individual artistic growth alongside their collective work.
