Visual kei duo yukigesyo_ officially arrived on July 15 with their debut album Byakuya (白夜), a deliberate fusion of classical and contemporary sound design that draws on the combined experience of its two members.

The project pairs Hikarito—known outside this collaboration as Kanata Yumishiro—with Magamaga CZQ (Cazqui). Hikarito handles vocals, violin, guitar, and piano, while Magamaga CZQ commands seven-string guitar, beat-making, and electronic manipulation. Together, they craft an ambitious sonic palette that sits somewhere between traditional rock, classical composition, and heavily processed electronic music.

The album's opening track, "to the light," arrived with a music video on July 16. The video pairs wintry, organic imagery with synthetic visuals—a visual metaphor for the band's core aesthetic. Over the course of the song, Hikarito's angelic violin and piano textures get warped and distorted by Magamaga CZQ's sound design, creating an effect that ranges from intimate emotional passages to turbulent electronic noise and intense rock riffage.

Byakuya contains 12 tracks total, each demonstrating what the duo calls a "virtuosic" approach to genre-blending. Soft acoustic arrangements dissolve into archaic electronic textures before exploding into distorted guitars. Compared to previous solo work by both musicians, the album pushes more heavily into electronic territory while maintaining the rock instrumentation that grounds each piece.

The album includes "VIOLIA (mode:yukigesyo_)," an updated version of a track originally released under Magamaga CZQ's name with Kanata Yumishiro as a guest. The new production reshapes the original into a more rock-centric piece that fits the album's overall sonic world while emphasizing its electronic elements. The reworked version demonstrates how yugikgesyo_ repurpose existing material to serve their evolving creative vision.

Hikarito's background includes the band AIOLIN, where he similarly took on multiple instrumental roles. yukigesyo_ represents the next chapter for both musicians—a complete departure from their previous output and a fully realized collaboration between two accomplished players in the Japanese music scene.
