I.O.I is officially reuniting for their 10th debut anniversary. SWING Entertainment confirmed on February 23 that the project girl group will make their comeback this May with a new album.

"I.O.I has confirmed their comeback this coming May. They are currently preparing a new album," the agency stated. SWING Entertainment will handle all management duties and oversee the group's activities throughout their anniversary celebrations.

The reunion brings together nine of the original eleven members who debuted in 2016 after forming through Mnet's survival show "Produce 101." The group disbanded in January 2017 after just seven months of activities, making this comeback particularly meaningful for fans who have waited nearly a decade for a proper reunion.

I.O.I originally consisted of Lim Na-young, Kim Chung-ha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chae-yeon, Zhou Jieqiong (Kyulkyung), Kim So-hye, Yoo Yeon-jung, Choi Yoo-jung, Kang Mi-na, Kim Do-yeon, and Jeon So-mi. While the agency hasn't specified which members are participating, the nine-member lineup suggests most of the original group is on board.

The members have all established successful careers since I.O.I's disbandment. Chung-ha became a solo powerhouse, Se-jeong and Yeon-jung found success in gugudan and Girls' Generation respectively, while others like So-mi carved out solo careers or joined different groups.

This anniversary comeback represents a rare second chance for a project group that captured hearts during their brief but impactful run. Their hits like "Dream Girls" and "Very Very Very" remain fan favorites, setting high expectations for what their reunion will bring.

With preparation already underway, fans can expect more details about the album and promotional activities as May approaches. The reunion promises to be one of the year's most anticipated K-pop events.
