AKMU member Lee Suhyun is getting candid about her relationship with body image and fashion. In a YouTube video uploaded June 1st titled "How Much Did I Spend to Become a VVIP?.. ★Lowest Prices at Plus-Size Shopping Malls★," she walked through plus-size retailers she's used while reflecting on a difficult period in her life.

About three years ago, Suhyun said she struggled with significant weight gain and fell into a cycle of self-doubt. "I thought to myself, 'I've really let myself go, I'm so fat,' and completely gave up on dressing up," she recalled. The frustration extended beyond personal feelings—she found it hard to locate clothing that fit, which deepened her hesitation about trying to look put-together.

"There was no size that fit. Even if I wanted to dress nicely, I just couldn't. I thought, 'I'm not pretty like this, so no matter what I wear, it's the same,' so I was even embarrassed to dress up," Suhyun explained, describing how the mismatch between her body and available options knocked her confidence.

That perspective shifted once she discovered the thriving plus-size shopping mall scene in Korea. "But once I searched a bit, I found there were so many plus-size malls and they were all doing really well. From then on, I started buying plus-size clothes like crazy," she said. Finding retailers with her size in stock—and with styles she actually liked—made a real difference in how she approached fashion.

Suhyun highlighted how each mall brought something different to the table, giving her the freedom to explore aesthetics that matched her personality rather than settling for whatever was available.

Closing out the video, she delivered an encouraging message to anyone navigating similar struggles: "To everyone who's plus-size, don't give up on dressing up. Look for pretty clothes that fit your size, buy them, and try them on."

The confession comes after Suhyun recently revealed she'd lost approximately 30 kilograms through dieting—a shift that's drawn public attention. Her willingness to discuss both the difficult weight gain period and her current journey shows a more rounded perspective on body changes and self-acceptance.
