Veteran singer Sung Si Kyung has been confirmed as the next host of KBS2's hit music variety program "The Seasons."

The announcement comes as the current iteration, "The Seasons: 10CM's Pat-Pat," prepares for its final recording on March 3. Sports Donga first reported the news on March 2, with KBS later confirming the hosting change.

"The Seasons" has become a standout music program known for its rotating host format, where different artists take the helm for extended periods. The show creates an intimate concert-like atmosphere where the host performs alongside various guests, from established stars to rising artists.

Sung Si Kyung brings decades of experience to the role. The 45-year-old singer-songwriter has been a fixture in Korean entertainment since the early 2000s, known for his warm vocals and emotional ballads. Beyond his music career, he's established himself as a capable variety show host through programs like "2 Days & 1 Night" and various radio shows.

This hosting change continues "The Seasons" tradition of featuring respected musicians as MCs. Previous hosts have included Lee Hyori, AKMU's Lee Chanhyuk, and Zico, each bringing their unique style to the program. 10CM's Kwon Jung Yeol has been hosting since his version launched, creating memorable performances and collaborations with both K-pop stars and indie artists.

The transition comes at an interesting time for Korean music variety shows, as programs like "The Seasons" have gained popularity for their focus on live performances and authentic musical interactions. Unlike typical variety shows, "The Seasons" prioritizes the music itself, allowing for deeper artistic connections between hosts and guests.

While details about Sung Si Kyung's version haven't been announced, his background suggests the program will likely maintain its emphasis on quality live music while potentially incorporating his known talent for creating comfortable, conversational atmospheres with guests.
