BIGBANG's Taeyang recently shared behind-the-scenes insights from the group's Coachella performance in an interview posted to the Psick Univ YouTube channel on May 19.

When asked about the experience, Taeyang didn't hold back his enthusiasm. "It was incredible," he said. "I never imagined there would be that many people in the audience." He described the moment the group opened with "Bang Bang Bang," explaining how hearing thousands of fans sing along made him realize just how far they'd come.

For his solo stage, Taeyang selected "Ringa Linga"—a choice he carefully considered while building the setlist. Despite having numerous solo hits to choose from, he wanted something that would energize the crowd at the massive festival.

But the real talking point was Daesung's solo performance of "Look At Me, Gwisun," a trot track that turned heads at the international music festival. When asked what he thought of the choice, Taeyang was candid: he initially had reservations. "I was a little scared," he admitted, "wondering 'Is this okay?' because it's Coachella."

Taeyang said he even approached Daesung about reconsidering the setlist, but his bandmate wasn't wavering. "Daesung was full of confidence," Taeyang recalled. "He said, 'Who else at Coachella could do trot? I can do it.' Honestly, I couldn't say no because I was worried it might hurt his feelings."

In the end, Taeyang's doubts melted away. "Many foreign fans were shocked there because they had never heard that genre of music. In the end, they fell in love with it," he explained.

Daesung's willingness to bring something completely unexpected to one of the world's biggest stages—and his refusal to second-guess himself—left an impression on Taeyang. It was a reminder that authenticity can transcend genre and geography, even in the high-stakes environment of Coachella.
