Kodansha's Morning magazine announced this week that Hyōyomi no Victoria (Vote Counter Victoria) will reach its conclusion in two final chapters. Created by writer Koichi Suzuki and artist Shū Okimoto, the manga has been serializing in the publication since June 2024.

The story centers on Tsubasa, an election consultant, and Kenzō, a political newcomer, as they challenge an entrenched mayor who's controlled their city for 40 years. The manga draws real-world expertise from political consultant Kumiko Suzuka, who provided the original story concept and oversaw the series' development.

With volume six already shipped and volume seven arriving July 22, the ending comes relatively quickly—less than two years after the manga's launch. This rapid conclusion suggests the creative team had a defined endpoint in mind for their political narrative.

Okimoto has collaborated with writer Suzuki before on other projects under the pen name Tadashi Agi. Most notably, they created The Drops of God, a wine-focused manga that debuted in Morning in 2004 and became a major international success. That series spawned a 2009 Japanese live-action adaptation, an Apple TV+ series in 2023 with a second season that premiered in January 2026, and an anime adaptation that launched in April 2026.

The creative duo continued the Drops of God universe with sequels and spin-offs throughout the 2010s and 2020s, with Kodansha USA Publishing releasing English digital versions of their work.

While Hyōyomi no Victoria's manga run is ending, it remains unclear whether the political thriller will receive anime or live-action adaptations like its predecessor. For now, readers can follow the final chapters in Morning magazine as the story concludes.
