The Elusive Samurai is gearing up for its second season with a fresh ending theme. The anime's official announcement revealed that musician Bocchiboromaru will perform "Romantic ga Hoshii nara" (If You Wish for Romance) as the season 2 ending theme, backed by three guest vocalists from the idol group Hinatazaka46.

The new season launches July 17 at 11:30 p.m. Japan Standard Time on Fuji TV's Noitamina block, with simultaneous streaming on Prime Video. AT-X will also carry the episodes. The cast returns with Asaki Yuikawa as protagonist Hojo Tokiyuki and Yūichi Nakamura as Suwa Yorishige, alongside supporting voice actors like Aoi Yūki, Hinaki Yano, and Mari Hino.

Behind the scenes, CloverWorks brings back director Yuta Yamazaki (who previously directed the Love Rice series) and character designer Yasushi Nishiya, now assuming additional chief animation director duties. GEMBI and Akiyuki Tateyama return to compose the music.

The Elusive Samurai, based on Yūsei Matsui's manga (which wrapped in February 2026), tells the story of young Tokiyuki escaping after his family's massacre by traitor Ashikaga Takauji. Aided by loyal retainers including the eccentric Suwa Yorishige—who claims clairvoyant abilities and predicts Tokiyuki will rule Japan—the series follows their efforts to survive and reclaim power.

The manga, which launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2021, earned the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2024. The first anime season debuted in July 2024, with Crunchyroll streaming it internationally and providing an English dub. Viz Media handles English publication of the manga both digitally and in print.

With the creative team firmly in place and a new theme song building momentum, season 2 looks ready to continue the samurai adventure when it arrives later this month.
