Fishbowl Releases 'Hyouka' Following Viral Success of 'Unagi Nobori'
Shizuoka-based idol group fishbowl is dropping new track 'Hyouka' on June 14, capitalizing on the momentum from their recent viral hit. The song debuted during their ongoing tour and was produced by their longtime collaborator Yamamoto Sho.

Fishbowl is riding high with the release of 'Hyouka' (氷菓), arriving June 14 on streaming platforms. The track marks another chapter for the Shizuoka-based idol group, which has been building serious momentum throughout 2026.
The new song premiered during fishbowl's current "Toukai Nishiki" tour (supported by JR East) and has been on fans' wishlists since. Like their other releases, 'Hyouka' comes from producer Yamamoto Sho, a fellow Shizuoka native who shapes the group's sound. He's described the track as having an unusually minimal instrumental arrangement compared to fishbowl's catalog—worth paying attention to for longtime listeners.
The timing couldn't be better. Just weeks earlier, fishbowl's May single 'Unagi Nobori' (鰻登) went viral after its dance performance video dropped. The cool, rhythmic track clocked 3.7 million YouTube views by early June and sent their "Hype" engagement metrics soaring—that's YouTube's fan support tracking feature. The wave of attention has clearly energized the group as they prepare 'Hyouka' for release.
Fishbowl itself represents an interesting project: all members hail from Shizuoka Prefecture, and the group emerged from a 2020 local idol initiative by TV Shizuoka. They officially launched in 2021 and have steadily built their discography—from their debut single 'Shinkai' through three full albums, most recently 2024's 'Shizen.' Their first headlining tour kicked off in 2023.
The group's current tour schedule shows they're expanding beyond their home region. June dates include Nagoya's X-HALL -ZEN-, followed by Tokyo's Spotify O-EAST in August. They're also heading to Taipei in September for two consecutive shows at Encounter venue.
With 'Unagi Nobori' proving they can catch the internet's attention and 'Hyouka' arriving while momentum is high, fishbowl appears positioned for their biggest moment yet. The release drops June 14 at midnight.
