This week brought a mixed bag of entertainment news from Japan's music and TV scene, with several notable projects hitting the schedule.

New Music Drop

Musician and one-man a cappella artist Kocchin Kento is releasing a new single titled "Dada" on June 26. The track explores fatherhood through Kento's signature wordplay style—the title carries a double meaning, blending the Japanese word for a baby's tantrum ("dada") with "DAD" (father). Kento announced the arrival of his first child back in March, and "Dada" captures the mix of chaos and joy that comes with early parenthood. Produced alongside GRP, the song will get its first radio play on Tokyo FM's "G-SHOCK presents THE MOMENT" on June 19, with an accompanying music video dropping the same day as the single release. Kento will perform the track live for the first time at his one-man show "Ippo Niho" on June 28 at Mitsui Hall in Tokyo's Otemachi.

Film and Drama Updates

Meanwhile, former idol members are branching into acting. Ex-GANG PARADE member Teshima Yuka will host a film talk event on July 17 at LOFT9 Shibuya, welcoming ex-Denpagumi.inc member Aizawa Risa to discuss a film featuring Danish actor Mats Mikkelsen. The event, titled "Yuyu Cinema Paradise Vol. 4," offers fans insight into the pair's take on international cinema.

On the drama front, Yamashita Koji (WILD BLUE) and Kubo Shioori (ex-Nogizaka46) have joined the cast of the July TV drama "Kokuhaku: 25 Years Later" airing on Nippon TV. The suspense-romance series stars Matsumura Hokuto, with Yamashita and Kubo playing cosmetics company employees caught up in the central mystery.

Event Appearances

Supercar members Ryoga and Yuuki appeared at Citizen's Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary event at Omotesando Hills on June 12, where they demonstrated their playful chemistry through mutual praise and banter. Guest MC Wakatsuki Chinatsu praised their easy rapport.
