Two Japanese Indie Bands Team Up for Split EP 'The Other Day'
Yuran-sen and Ålborg, two Japanese indie rock bands with a long friendship, are releasing a collaborative split EP featuring three tracks that blend their distinct musical styles. The vinyl edition will be available first at a release party in Tokyo on July 21.

Japanese indie rock bands Yuran-sen and Ålborg are joining forces for a split EP titled The Other Day, releasing on 7-inch vinyl and digital platforms. The project brings together two groups that have been friends since before officially forming their bands.
The EP contains three tracks that were created through a collaborative process where both bands contributed ideas. Opening track "Skagen"—named after a city at Denmark's northernmost point—already premiered on June 10 and sets the tone with crisp vocals and sweeping soundscapes. The title references Ålborg's dream to perform in the Danish city that inspired their band name.
The vinyl edition features a unique structure, with "Keep in Touch" appearing as a different mix on the 7-inch compared to the digital version. On the physical release, this track serves as an interlude connecting the EP's first and second halves, building the narrative arc between "Skagen" and closing track "Accord." The remaining songs will roll out gradually on streaming platforms.
About the Bands
Yuran-sen, formed around vocalist and guitarist Itaru Uchimura, released their debut album My Generation in 2020 to critical acclaim. The group, which also includes keyboardist Satofumi Ito and drummer Satoshi Sai, most recently dropped their third album My Chemical Romance last year.
Albörg emerged from Yokohama in 2022 and quickly gained attention with their debut single "Girl." They performed at Fuji Rock Festival in 2023 and released their first full-length The Way I See You in 2024.
Release Details
The vinyl version will get a first look at the release party on July 21 at Shin-Daita FEVER in Tokyo, where both bands will perform. A general release date hasn't been announced yet. Tickets are available through e Plus, including a student discount option.
Digital versions of all three tracks will roll out to streaming services on a staggered schedule, with "Keep in Touch" and "Accord" following "Skagen's" early June drop.
