Yoshiyuki Okamura is giving fans a chance to revisit his early catalog in pristine quality. Starting today, five music videos from his EPIC Records era are arriving on YouTube with freshly remastered video, courtesy of cutting-edge restoration techniques that restore clarity to the original footage.

The first batch includes his 1986 debut single "Out of Blue," followed by "Check Out Love" and "Young oh!oh!" from 1987, plus "Dog Days" from the same year, and "19 (nineteen)" from his 1988 album Date. Director Sakanishi Isaku helmed all five videos. This follows a sneak peek of "だいすき" (Daisuki), which premiered earlier in May with a remixed version.

Okamura, a Hyogo Prefecture native born in 1965, has built a 40-year career blending black music, rock, pop, and traditional enka into a distinctive sound backed by inventive live performance. After releasing his debut album Yellow in 1987, he became a fixture in Japan's music scene through the '90s, though he scaled back activity during that decade. He fully returned to music-making in 2011, releasing two self-cover albums simultaneously. Since then, he's balanced consistent touring with occasional album releases and collaborations across genres—working with everyone from Takkyu Ishino (Denki Groove) to producer Cornelius to rapper DAOKA.

The video remaster project marks Okamura's latest push to reconnect with longtime fans and introduce his work to newcomers. A second wave of classic videos is scheduled to drop in July. The timing aligns with his nationwide summer tour, "Okamura Yoshiyuki 2026 SUMMER TOUR 'Pivot,'" which runs through August and hits major cities from Tokyo to Okinawa, giving fans multiple ways to engage with both his archival work and live performances.
